Formless Shadows - The End?
Well, I had to do something I didn’t want to do today, I have ended the World of Darkness play by email game I was running. It took a while for me to realise that this was not the season for it to happen. You may ask what I mean by that, well I believe that things have their “seasons”. I know its cheesy sounding but things happen, I believe, in their own time and just because something isn’t right for now doesn’t mean it won’t be right for a time in the future.
The game was fun, I had a lot of plot building up, admittedly a lot slower than in most games but I was going for a different style of game. I wanted a game where the player characters had a lfie, they had to work, they had to deal with families, the game was trying to run in real time. Things took time, researching, interviews, etc all took time to happen, get set up etc. So perhaps the pacing was wrong, perhaps my style of GMing (Games Master - the person who runs the game) does not suit play byt email games. There are a thousand and one possibilities for the why and the how it did not work, but the end result is it didn’t. Shame really I was so looking forward top watching the players characters slowly realise just how utterly wrong their world view was… oh well, nevermind. Here’s to the current end of “The Formless Shadows”.
I think I’ll try again in a while, perhaps, we shall see what we shall see. My apologies goes out to those who were in the game who read this (yes I have already told them before I posted this), sorry it didn’t work out.
Laters people.
