Wake the Dead - Comeback Kid
This is our city of the dead
Another life holds its weary head
We hope, we try, we live, survive
Counting days, trying to get by
Waiting for the calling
Anticipation in the air
We hope and dream of difference
City sleeping, unaware
Break the silence, WAKE THE DEAD
Running through these streets alone
I’ll kick and scream, let’s break this hold
‘Cause I swear, that this won’t render useless
I promise you, we’ve come this far
And I’m not stopping, I’m not stopping now
Enough hiding in shadows
Wake up, send out this message, it’s clear
You said, you said, you said
this time was gonna be different
WAKE UP THE DEAD
Coming alive, something stirs inside
This isn’t over yet
Shake off the dirt
Swallow regret
Stop living under the weight
Living under the weight of regret
Your regrets
DON’T LOSE HOPE
Your regrets
DON’T LOSE HOPE
Don’t let it happen to you
DON’T LOSE HOPE
Which side are you gonna choose?
‘Cause I believe, I believe it’s in you RISE!
We said, we said, we said
This time was gonna be different
WAKE UP THE DEAD

… warning rant ahead… warning…
So Who says that the desire for truth, the burning heart, the passion, doesn’t exist within the youth of today? Who dares insult the questioning spirit? Who will rise up and claim this desire, this truth, in the name of the one True Truth? I listen to music that makes most peoples hair stand on and makes them feel uncomfortable (no not Cliff Richard… shudder ;)). In the music I see a passion which makes even our most “evangelical” or “Pentecostal” churches seem flat, empty, and hollow of any meaning.
You see bones, I see an Army, it just takes God to build it all up and make it what He wants it to be. You see gangs, I see the need for community, you see vandalism, I see the need for love and purpose. I see God standing before us, His anger building, not at the lost, not the yob culture but at the church. For we have sat for long enough and tutted as the youth go to hell, we brand them, label them, accuse them, when God is crying out for us to Love them as He loves us.
There are many people who feel the same as I do, many who stand on the fringes, stand in the dark places where many will not go. We have been called to go into those places “conventional wisdom” tells us Christians don’t belong, or should not be. We who have this calling, need to walk boldly into all the places where the enemy tells us that he has power. We are called to be light in a darkness, its not a powerful light if only those in the light ever see it!! For as scripture says, if God is for us who, WHO, can stand against us. God is for this, God is for these people, and for us, the enemy just doesn’t stand a chance, and he knows it. This is why the “church” condemns, this is “church” labels and condemns, because the enemy convinces them that these people are beyond our reach, beyond saving… lies, nothing but lies. The enemy is afraid of what the outcasts, the punks, the metallers, the “freaks” will do when they see the truth and turn and follow Christ, teh enemy shakes in his boots thinking of the schemes, the poor areas all resounding with Christ’s name.
Well, I think its about time we gave the enemy a swift kick in the teeth. If you know of an inner city Christian project, support it in prayer and let the KNOW you are praying for them. Support them physically and financially if you can. If you see those society would call “yobs”, “neds”, “freaks”, or whatever, don’t tutt or complain, praise God for them and pray that someone, somewhere will be a friend to them (no matter what the cost) and that they come to know Christ… in fact if you feel you can, then be that friend, you will feel pain, it will hurt, it will cost you but imagine the rejoicing in Heaven when even just one of them accepts Christ.
I think, I’ve probably ranted enough now to get into some hot water with some folk, so peace and laters people… remember Christ came to save the who-so-ever.
