The Journey to Japan – Day Two
Well… its been two day’s since I got, and accepted the job offer, so apart from the grapevine kicking into gear and almost everyone now knowing, not much else has, rather obviously, happened. However I am becoming increasingly aware of what I need to get sorted, here is a choice selection:
- Sort out my clothes – including buying new ones, and throwing out old stuff
- Storing DVD’s and books etc
- Selling PC and getting a laptop (one which can preferably run Half Life 2 and WoW)
- Getting my finances sort for being a year (at least) out of the country
- Getting my stuff over to my parents
- Train people at work to do administration and computer stuff
- Get my visa etc sorted (just got the form for one sheet its quite fun… not)
- Figuring out how to stay in contact (probably gonna be Google-chat, as I can use it for free calls :))
- Booking flights… and wither to get single, or return etc
- Oh and figuring out when I am actually going to get there for (still looking like being the first week in April)
One thing is, if it all works nicely I should be able to get back for Christmas. I’m not getting many holidays (as in non-national holiday’s) but when I am given them (which is after 6 months) it should mean that I can come over… I hope.
I will say this at the moment I am a mix of extremely excited and very nervous. There are still many unknowns, lots of things that could be terrible but also so many opportunities, so many prospects to grow and develop in a multitude of ways that makes any hardships, wither real or perceived, more than worth while.
Well, that’s about it so far. Needless to say that this is hopefully gonna be a regular feature as I get to, and as I stay in Tokyo. I think it should be quite a cool experience writing about, and hopefully photographing my time there and then being able to look back at it.
