“Time flies alright, but which way?”

Well, another week begins, more time passes as I wait to see when I’m actually heading to Tokyo… hopefully I’ll find out soon. However I have some dates I do know, I will be leaving my job on the 31st March, and I will be leaving Edinburgh around the Easter weekend. Its gonna be tough leaving Edinburgh after so long, but I will be back, well, at least that is the plan at the moment, who knows what will happen.

I should hopefully have my shiny new laptop at some point this week… well, I hope I do. I bought a 400Gb external hard disk this weekend (not bad at £150) so I can have some decent large scale storage for my time away (especially if I get a digital camera I can see me coming back with quite a lot of photos).

For those who wish to geek out at such stuff, the new machine is from Cyber Power and it is quite sweet.the rough stats of the laptop are as follows:

Mobile AMD Turiont64 MT-40 CPU @ 2.2ghz 1MB Cache
2GB Corsair XMS Notebook Memory
ATI Mobility Radeon X700 128MB
80GB 7200RPM ULTRA ATA 100 Hard Drive
8X DVD Rewritable Drive
15.4″ Glare WXGA 1280×800 Pixel
Only got Stereo Speakers
Additional 2nd Li-Ion Battery Pack

Its not exactly a beast of a machine, its more of a determined would-be predator, think a Scottish Terrier in a slightly rusty mechsuit, with a purpose, probably a never ending quest to save its girlfriend… roar!  :)

Hopefully have more, and more definite, news soon. I’m still thinking of where and when to have my going away do. Until then, laters.

Edit: Latest update on the laptop is that it should be shipped on Wednesday the 15th February… so I’ll probably get it on Friday (delivered in Thursday, and since I wont be in it’ll be Friday morning when I picked it up) which is a week longer than expected, but we shall see.

  1. Whats the disk (link to where you bought it from)? I’ll be needing a big external as well now that my primary is a laptop and that sounds like a good option.

  2. Its a Packard Bell “store and save” 400Gb, its only USB2 but the HDD itself has an 8Mb Cache and 7200rpm.
