News Arrives at last

Thought I’d do some snippets of stuff rather than a big entry:
- Regarding my job in Japan, I have a date… all be it in pencil, but it’s a date… and that date is 21st August 2006. I am still waiting on the Visa but the church would like me to start then, so I’m planning to be over for then.
- In the meantime… I am still waiting to hear about benefits, and still looking for a job, in the meantime I’m doing some art and going to start relearning what I may have to teach.
- Just rewatched Fahrenheit 9/11, although not Moore’s best documentary and he does lose the point and descends more than normal into overly biased and poorly thought out links it is still a moving and powerful piece of film which challenges our perceptions abroad.
- Oh and Micro$haft have released the minimum and recommended stats if you want to run their new operating system Vista… have a look and think back to the day when operating systems fitted on floppy disks.
Anyway, just a wee update, hopefully going to see X-Men 3 this weekend, really hoping its not going to suck. Speaking of which, seen a bunch of movies in my time off:
- Corpse Bride: Rather good, not as good as “Nightmare before…” but still good.
- Aeon Flux: No where near as good as the cartoon series, but watchable… just
- Date Movie: An insult to spoof movies… I smiled more than laughed, which is bad.
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: The best so far.
- Ultimate Avengers: For a kids animation it is good, not as good as the comics it is based on (which are more edgy)
- Underworld Evolution: Quite good, some decent fights but nothing spectacular
Still got to see V for Vendetta, Narnia, Syriana, A History of Violence, and Ice Age 2… and quite afew more, in fact as I think about it A LOT more. ![]()
EDIT: X-Men 3 was rather good, I think it can stand up to the previous films and although at places the effects seemed a bit ropey, others were amazing. Its even more fan-boy-ish than the last two but if you enjoyed the others you should see this… oh and by the way. you must wait until the end of the credits for something which throws interesting questions… well kinda. Overall it was a good movie, it had its problems both in pacing, plots and characters but the action scenes were fun and in the end I had fun watching it, which to me is a good thing.

So, seeing as you’re not going to Japan until August… are you up for paintball on 8th July?

Disney surprised me with Narnia - they managed to do a great job without messing up the original story.
V for Vendetta was a lot better than I thought it would be.
Took the kids to see ‘Over The Fence’ a couple of weeks ago. It was a lot of fun.
21st August will soon come around, so make the most of the time left. Hope all goes well with the move. By the way, what is the job? Just curious.
Blessings
William
Getting psyched now for the release of ‘Cars’ this week. Will probably wait a few weeks and go and see it at a decent theatre.
I also finally got around to watching ‘Crash’ and ‘Good Night, and Good Luck’ on DVD, both of which, I felt, lived up to the critical acclaim.

The job is going to be working for a church run school in Tokyo doing teaching (in English thankfully as I can’t speak Japanese), bible studies and whatever else they need/want… it should be very interesting/tough/rewarding.
