Movie Mania

Seen a few films recently so here is my mini-reviews:
Hostage - actually rather good, not excellent, but not bad. Bruce Willis has setteled well into his ageing sorta-action-hero-but-not-quite type roles. Also one of the bad guys was actually rather creepy (funny enough the actor is Ben Foster who played Angel in the recent X-Men movie
Over the Hedge - A very funny kids film with some amazing moents of pure comedy gold… if you like Shrek or its ilk then you will probably enoy this… however unlike many similar movies it does not have a discernable adult subtext so its quite family safe… ish.
Superman Returns - I am by no means a fan of the boy scout, but I have to admit the movie was not as bad as I feared… however I did not leave the cinema thrilled, or excited as I have with the Spider-Man movies or the new Batman. If you like Superman then this film is quite perfect, if your not then I still recommend seeing it just because it has Kevin Spacey in it
Some elements annoyed me, and as always an intelligent criminal has the oppertunity to kill a good guy and falls prey to normal mistakes. That all being said I’ll see the sequel if they make it… well more than likely I’ll see it.
Pirates 2 - Captain Jack is back… need I say more… okay I’ll admit they could have shaved a half hour off this movie easy but I stilled enjoyed it immensly… not sure if I enjoyed it as much as the first one but it had the bonus of being fresh and new. The effects are amazing especially for Cthulhu… sorry Davy Jones. They do over run by doing too much set up for Pirates 3 and they somehow manage to not close any of the plot threads.
There you go, some more movies for you… as for other stuff well my mind is now a piece f mush after not working since April and I fear it will either kick start again soon or whimper and die a horrible painful death the next time I have to use it.
Oh and for those keeping track of my move, I should be in Japan by the 20th of August… I hope. I’ll do a proper update at some point… if I remember… which is doubtful. Oh and I’ve updated my gallery with a bunch of new and old stuff.

I thought over the hedge was quite good - and the kids are desperate to see PotC2, which we might be doing in the next few days.

Went to see Superman Returns on Tuesday night. I didn’t have high expectations, so I wasn’t too disappointed. I thought the plot was very lame. It was cheap night at the movies ($4.00), so I didn’t waste too much on it.
Saw Pirates last week and really enjoyed it, although it was obviously setting itself up for the grand finale in #3.
Over the Hedge was great, but the highlight movie this summer is Cars - saw it twice and the kids want to see it again. One of Pixar’s finest moments.
