Days 6 and 7 - In the Mountains of Madness…
Filed under: Living in Japan
Not much really happened these days of note, except on Sunday I went to the corps beside where I am staying which is where Major Makoto Yamanara is stationed so he kindly translated the service for me. I was then invited to share lunch with him and a few others and then I came back in the evening for their Cafe Church which about this years Greenbelt festival.
Yesterday Tamo, on of Makoto Yoshda’s son’s, took me to Mount Fuji-san… except when we got there it was completely shrouded in thick cloud so I didn’t get to see it… I did however experience a really good all you can eat restaurant where you have a small cooker (kinda like a BBQ) in the middle of your table and you o up and help yourself to fresh meats of all descriptions and a load of other things. Afterwards Tamo, and his friend who lived there and took us to the restaurant, took me to the shrine associated with Fuji-san, I managed to get quite a few pictures this time.
Lets see, apart from that its been rather quiet, sharing time and meals with the Yoshida’s who have been so wonderfully generous and kind to me.
Oh one quick thing, can’t believe I almost forgot, I have managed to get my ticet sorted so I will be returning to the UK on Thursday the 7th September mid afternoon… actually its quite funny if you look at the arrival and departure times it seems to only be 4 hours but in fact it is 12 hours long but I will be losing 8 hours, jet lag here I come.

Hey,
I was sorry to hear about your bad tidings when you got to japan, thought i should lend you some support. Least you got to go to japan and it sounds like your really trying to make the most of it. Im a little suprised your not just looking for english teaching work though, there should be plenty of that going round. Well just have fun, and eat more Takoyaki and gyudon because they are cheep and they rock. o and mmmmm shabu shabu (i think thats what you had) damn they do some tasty eats in that country.

Just getting caught up with things again after our trip to the UK. I was surprised to see how things worked out for you in Japan. You made a pretty difficult decision there, but there are things that one cannot compromise on and it seems that this is what you faced. Too many people today are willing to go against their beliefs or will compromise rather than stand up for what they believe.
Enjoy the rest of your time there, and I pray that something will work out for you after you return ‘home’.
Blessings
