Prospects & ponderings…
Well, as I type this I am currently watching my through all of Babylon 5, which is almost everything apart from a few movies, so far I am over half way through season 3 at the Arthur episode. Its been enjoyable watching it all again, remembering great scenes, the speeches, the twists and plots.
Anyway, I’m still trying to find a job, however this is becoming a tedious and annoying task. I keep sending off applications, and either hear nothing back or they get back in what feels like moments to say I’m not suitable. But the search continues. I still have my business, not getting much work, but some and that is something. I have a small feeling that the fact I have this business is perhaps acting against me in my job search.
I am thinking of selling artwork from my business’s (what exactly is the rule again for ’s?) site using PayPal (just so I don’t have to pay for secure scripting), problem is that I don’t think people will buy me stuff… that being said you never know I have seen some artists sell their work for a considerable amount for, well, artwork which does not show much skill in technique (at least to my uneducated eyes :)). So, I am trying to get my act together and get into art college (as some of you will know, I may have even mentioned here) part time so I can improve my severely lacking skills in many areas of art (such as still life, the human form, solidity of objects, etc). You never know it may even help me be able to sell some works.
On other fronts, I’ve settled into the flat, almost everything is ready. Just my big desk to get set up, which is a job I’m not looking forward too
Still no heating or hot water, just waiting for the plumber to come and finish the connections. Its taken its time but thankfully it seems to have little to do with my landlord and more to do with having to work with about 3 different companies at various stages.
A few movies out soon, hopefully get to see them… nuts… just realised that I missed an opportunity to see “Taking Libertyâ€? on Tuesday (its a film about the erosion of civil liberties in the UK) it looked quite interesting, must try and catch it at some point.
I’m currently, and slowly, writing up a game set in the new World of Darkness in the off chance that I get the opportunity to run a game at some point, may even consider starting this one off with individual players and slowly bringing them together for proper sessions. I’ve tried to run a couple of nWoD games in the past over email which have, well, not quite worked out. Of course this means nothing to those of you who haven’t role played but still, that has never stopped me before
Speaking of games, its beginning to really nark me that my laptop hates playing games etc due to overheating. I’ve started looking at new computers, just gotta decide if I want to go pre-built or build my own, its a close cut thing when it comes to the power you get for the price. One things that is almost definite is that I’ll get a dual-SLi graphics system, and no less that 2Gb RAM, 4 would be best for my graphics work.
Its weird to think that in only a couple of months it will have been a year since I went to Japan, its been over a year since I last worked (technically). In that time so much has changed, yet not as much as I would have liked :). Its in some ways good to know that not all questions are easily answered as that would take the fun away in life, at least thats what I tell myself just to keep me sane :).
Anyway, I’ve gone on long enough, its taken three episodes of B5 to write this as I keep getting distracted… oooh shiny.
Laters.

At the risk of sounding blasphemous I have to say that I was never able to finish watching all of B5. As much as I enjoyed the first few seasons it all started to get to segmented by what I now know as constant droping and extending of the series. O, that and Garabaldy started to get all evil and I wasn’t having any of it.

Don’t tell them about your other business. If the two don’t clash in domain and you are running the other one in your spare time, I don’t see why they need to know about it. I didn’t realise you were mentioning it to them, but I personally would count it against you if I was interviewing you as it implies you might bail if it picks up. There is absolutely no reason to mention it in any interviews unless asked, if (once) they offer you the job read the contract and check over what it says about holding multiple jobs. If it doesn’t say anything its none of their business, if it does abide by what they say (mine for example says I can’t work for a competitor).
Pay pal costs money to receive more than a couple of credit card based payments a year. You have to pay them merchants fees.
As for “s” vs “’s”, the simplest part of it is “’s” is used to indicate possessions “Andrew’s cat” and “s” for plurals “my cats”.

Hi Adam
If you are selling some of your art, one I really like is ‘The War Rages On’.
