Poem - Stillness of Chaos

This came to me tonight, I had just watched the two Ghost in the Shell movies so that may explain it :)

Stillness of Chaos

In the stillness of night
that blazes in the light of the day
in the freezing winds
of the still calm heat
alone in the crowd
crowded in by solitude
torn asunder by metaphysical debates
cast adrift in an unforgiving sea
of my own indecision.

Lost in the labyrinth of possibilities
every changing
fearing that the goal isn’t there
but also never existed
a desire to protect and prevent
opens wounds of good intentions.

Daring never to risk anything
for the cost may be too high
such a stupid foolishness
to which I know better
my silence deafens me
unable to find words
unwilling to find words.

Why fear what may come?
Why regret what may not pass?
Why guess when certainty is attainable?
Why?
Because it is easier
more predictable
it is easier to ignore the possibility of pain and failure
we all find ourselves.

From time to time
lost in this maze
lost in so many ways
to as many different causes
denying ourselves invain to save ourselves
presumptuous
contemptible
foolish
and human
very human.

We choose emptiness
rather than risk overflowing with wonder
or breaking in sorrow
the reason given are aplenty
though we know the truth already
for in the night of the day
in the cold touch of fire
we find false comfort
which leads to only greater pain
than if we just risked

Oh physician heal thyself
but again is found to be lost
caught in the cycle of our own making
In the stillness of night…
