Wow, another month has flown by… so yet another month in review of my Project365 stuff:

Amergin - I kinda like this one, I don’t do many A3 ink only sketches. It is a sketch of a character I play in one of the role playing games I am in. The character is basically a Shaman (a magic using person of nature) from a Scottish Highlands type land, he is rather fun to play

Couple of new paintings - Mainly for the top blue one (Crowd of One) and the bottom right one (Muse), these were a couple of the painting on sale at the Spooned Out event. I do feel that I have found my feet with painting and have a base ability on which I can now improve.

Comfort - One of the few digital images this month, the others were not that great, this one however I really like it changed as it was created and even at points I was going to give up on it. It is meant to simply reflect the need I believe we all have at times just simply to be held, to be comforted.

Spooned Out - While not some of my best photography it makes the pick because it shows off some of my newest works and it proves I have technically now exhibited work

There we go, only a few but still happy with them. July is off to a good start with “Ice Mage“, hopefully it will continue in that vein… I can but hope

(this was written as the day progressed, on my ipod :))

Saturday was Ali and Gillian’s wedding. Which is my third wedding this year, I think three more to go. It ended up, for various reasons, that I was going on a day ticket on the ferry. It meant I couldn’t stay as long a I wanted but it was cheap.

Anyway, after seeing “wanted” on Friday night I headed to my parents and got up at the unnatural 6am so I could be on the road for 715. At any rate I ended up in Belfast with an hour to kill before I even started to get to the hall for the wedding. So I decided to grab some lunch as you can never say how long it will be before you get food at the reception

As I wondered the streets I happened across the Ginger bistro. After perusing a perfectly sized lunch menu I elected on the “simple mushroom and parmesan risotto”, which at £7 didn’t seem too bad value. I wasn’t disappointed, a most flavourful and satisfying risotto later I headed back to the streets (having managed to resist a tempting dessert menu) and on to the wedding venue, with an hour to spare. I aimed to be early as I needed to get changed.

After arriving and finding out my shirt was crushed, even for me it was bad, I was asked if I could video the wedding. The service was good and the various musical interludes of a high standard, not a huge surprise for an army wedding (we do tend to be a bit spoilt for music ability). My good friend Chris said he would not only give me a lift to the reception but also back to the ferry which was rather nice of him.

Annoyingly the rain came on but thankfully after the wedding party had left. The rain was a bit sporadic which was a bit of a shame but it wasn’t an issue really… at least not for me.

After the obligatory long wait until the meal, during which time I discovered I was seated at a table of officers and two babies, thankfully I knew three of the officers and one kid (the Hintons and Janet Robson). Time was fast running out for me as I was aiming to leave at 9ish to insure that I was on time. Much to timing’s dismay the speeches were first and they took a while, as the seem to do from my experience. This did, however, have the effect that the first course came out very quickly and was followed suit by the main, the dessert followed more leisurely after the cake cutting. As for the standard of the food, well, it was most excellent.

At about 915pm Chris very kindly took me to the port, which we eventually found despite the sat nav then thinking that we were in the water . What followed was a bit of a wait, arrived a bit early and the ferry was late. After another ferry journey of sketching, and a brief snooze, I arrived back in stranraer at 0050, a good 40minutes later than I expected. After a long journey I eventually arrived back at my parents at 3am.

It may have been exhausting but is was a fantastic day and worth every ache and sleep deprevation.

So I thought I should possibly advertise this, so here is the poster from my friend Thomas aka “headphonaught”.

So, yeah, I will be showcasing a mix of new and old acrylic works (as well as prints of my digital work) and selling what I can (a man has to eat :)).

You can see some of the work I have been working on at my Project365 if you are interested. I just need to get some more done as well as figure out costs :). So if you feel inclined please turn up, the music is from (as I am sure you can see from the advert) the essential band and Jen and Paul, well worth a listen.

Laters

EDIT:

Decided to make a digital work to sell as a new print, you can see it here (at my Project365), or even here (at RedBubble).

So, I kinda skipped April’s retrospective of my Project365 because I couldn’t see enough I liked that much. So at any rate here is Mays retrospective:

“Worship Art: Roots” (One, Two, Three, Four) - Not a huge surprise this is in here really is it? For my first real venture into this type of worship through art it went amazingly well and was an experience I am incredible thankful for.

“Worship Art: Gorgie” - My second go, not that amazing but the situation was rather different, still not too bad, especially for under an hour and half.

“Hidden Angel” - another photomanip, while this is no where near as good as the previous two I still like it

“Worship Art: ((deep)) and Fun Day Art” - it was a busy day and filled with art, I actually sketched more than what is shown during the “fun” day. The ((deep)) artwork I was incredible happy with probably ranks as some of my best acrylic work.

There you go, that should do for May, it was a busy one. As for June, well, we shall see but there is something to look forward to, I have my first “exhibition” in a couple of weeks in Glasgow, details will come soon enough

So its been a while, would love to say that I’ve been up to a lot, and in some ways I have been. So lets see whats been happening since I last updated:

The Dreaded 30th:
I have hit the much dreaded three-zero… now while I’m not ecstatic about this its not been as big a thing as I had feared. This was supplemented by a fantastic night out with with my friends at International Starters, it was good to hang out with two groups of friends and even have some, if limited, mingling (sp?) :).

Art Worship:
Gorgie - went well, not my best work but still really happy with it.

((deep)) - went very well, really happy with my work, especially the one entitled “Who do you say I am”

I am really enjoying doing this, and I am trying to think of way I could use it to make some money so I can, you know, live

Films:
Iron Man - current forerunner for blockbuster of the year, an almost perfect mix of action and comedy.
Doomsday - by the maker of the brilliant Dog Soldiers, its mad max meets 28 days later, in Glasgow… its so bad that its sheer brilliance!
Indiana Jones… - It was good, and fun, but there was something that niggled, just don’t know what.
Outpost - Haven’t seen it but surprisingly for a horror type movie, I rather want to see it… mainly because of zombie nazi’s

Games:
Really only Age of Conan, which has just come out, and is just as much fun as the beta was. We shall see what I think after the free month is up. That being said there is a raft of games (and movies) coming this year so it could shape up well.

So, yeah, thats about everything for now, laters.
